Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Technology
What is the technology behind the Smart diaper and sensor?

The smart diaper has two carbon sensing ink printed on the peripheral of the diaper, which is the instrument for measuring wetness level of the diaper, replacing the usual wetness indicator you see in the normal diapers. When the baby urinates, the wetness of the diaper on the sensing ink changes the resistance of the electrons flow, and then send a signal from the sensor attached to the diaper to the SmartAlarm via Bluetooth.

How does the sensor detect wetness of the SmartDiaper?

The smart diaper has two carbon sensing ink printed on the peripheral of the diaper, which is the instrument for measuring wetness level of the diaper, replacing the usual wetness indicator you see in the normal diapers. When the baby urinates, the wetness of the diaper on the sensing ink changes the resistance of the electrons flow, and then send a signal from the sensor attached to the diaper to the SmartAlarm via Bluetooth.

How accurate is the sensing technology?

The test has been repeated more than a thousand times with 95% confidence level and with a margin of error lower than 5%. With a 95% correlation of actual liquid and detected liquid and the degree of wetness showed.

Usage
How is the WonderAlarm being powered?

It can be charged using the USB cable, and each time the battery is fully charged, it can take about 10 – 12 hours if it is only used with the sensor via Bluetooth. If you’re connecting the WonderAlarm by connecting it to the Wi-Fi or the internet, it is recommended to connect the Alarm to the power at all times.

Can I use any other USB charger to charge my SmartAlarm?

Yes. Even though we provide you a 1A charger, it is safe for you to use charger above 2A to charge your SmartAlarm.

Can I use the WonderAlarm outside homes?

Yes. You can bring the alarm with you when you and the baby are outside home. However, the distance between the alarm and the sensor must be within 10 m, meaning that the lamp will not work if you bring the lamp outside home and leave the sensor attached to the baby’s diaper.

Connections at home could be interfered by obstacles like doors or furniture. How do I know where I can put my SmartAlarm that is far away from the baby but also close enough to maintain the connection with the Smart Diaper?

When the SmartAlarm has lost connection with the Sensor, the lamp will turn from the original colour to white, blinks and beeps occasionally to alert you that the connection has lost. Hence, you could observe the light change of the lamp and place it around your house to see which spot would be most ideal for you to situate your SmartAlarm.

Will the WonderAlarm cause a lot of noise?

If you don’t want the SmartAlarm to make noises at night when the baby has wetted the diaper, you can switch off the sound of the Alarm by turning the switch at the base of the Lamp.

The light from the WonderAlarm is too bright for night time. Can we dim the light?

As we design our product based on the household's needs, we understand that it's important we have the flexibility to dim the light. Hence, you can press the On/Off button at the base of the Alarm for a while until the light dims. If you press too long, the light will turn off.

How long can we use the WonderSensor without changing the battery?

The battery inside the WonderSensor can last for up to 1-2 months. By then, please use the opening key to open the sensor to change the battery.

How do I connect the WonderAlarm to the App?

Step 1: Press the on/off button of the Wonder Alarm until it turns on and changes to Purple colour (the pairing mode)

Step 2: Click on Networking Settings in the app, and follow instructions within the app to set up the connection with the Wonder Alarm.

Step 3: Enter wi-fi password and click “Save” to connect to Wifi. “Wifi connection successful” will appear in the app below once it is connected. The WonderAlarm will turn from purple to white (if not attached to sensor) or green (if attached to a dry diaper).

How do I connect the sensor to the App?

Step 1: Prepare the sensor that you want to pair with the user and place it very close to the App.

Step 2: To bind the sensor with the user in the App, click on the “link” icon under the baby’s profile screen. Once clicked, the app will automatically detect the closest sensor to the phone, and identify that sensor as the user.

Step 3: When the sensor is connected to the baby, you will see real-time data showing up on the baby’s profile.

Can I use the Sensor and App outside Home without Wonder Alarm?

Yes, you can use the Wondermom App and Sensor without bringing the Wonder Alarm. The Sensor can send signal directly to the Wondermom App.

Safety
The wetness indicator is black and looks dangerous to my baby. Will it be sensitive to baby’s skin?

The wetness indicator is made of the carbon sensing ink, which is the technology behind the wetness sensor. Also, carbon is a natural chemical and rarely causes any sensitivity issues. The carbon ink is also printed in the outer layer of the diaper and does not directly touch the baby’s skin. Compared to other dyes or coloring, carbon is a safer option than other dyed wetness indicator available in the market. The printing ink of the sensing lines has passed CMA testing where all chemical content is found to be within the limits specified in 2002 95/EC Directive.

Does using Bluetooth in baby diapers poses any danger to our babies?

Bluetooth is a proprietary open wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances (~10m). Hence comparing to mobile phone that needs to continuously connect to a tower that could be miles away, Bluetooth will emit significantly less energy, thus less radiation.

Is it harmful for the baby with the strong WIFI signal sending from the Sensor to the WonderMom App?

The sensor is only sending signal to the Alarm via Bluetooth, and the Alarm will send signal to the Cloud which connects to the mobile application. Hence, you don’t have to worry that the strong Wi-Fi radiation close to the baby.

Will it hurt my baby when my baby is moving?

WonderSensor is tiny. Strongly attached by Velcro tape, on the diaper front on top of the baby’s belly where no wiggle could lose it. Hidden in the folded diaper front and away from baby’s touch. It’s there, but almost invisible.

Miscellaneous
What is the smart diaper made of? Will it cause any irritation to my baby’s skin?

The raw material used to make the smart diaper is the same material used to make diapers you can normally find in the market. The top sheet of the diaper is made of non-woven imported from Korea, the absorbent core is made of virgin wood pulp imported from the United States and superabsorbent polymer imported from Japan and Germany. They are regularly tested against QB / T 2493 and GB 15979 standards and CE and FDA certified.

When will the WonderMom App be launched?

It will be launched around June in 2019. By that time, you’ll receive an email from us if you have signed up for our newsletter or is an existing customer.

What is the lifetime of the WonderSensor and the WonderAlarm?

The sensor and the alarm have a lifetime of more than 10 years. Hence, you can use it from the birth of your baby until your baby is old enough to go to the washroom him/herself!
